Clothing-optional beaches in Florida: the two county-designated beaches

Florida's two designated beaches are run by county parks departments, which is why the information below is unusually complete: opening hours, the exact lifeguard towers that bound the area, where the showers are.

Canaveral National Seashore's Apollo and Playalinda beaches are often listed elsewhere; the National Park Service pages we read do not state a clothing policy, so they are not listed here.

1. Haulover Beach, clothing-optional section

   Sunny Isles Beach and Bal Harbour, Miami-Dade County · Designated by an authority

   Legal status: Miami-Dade County Parks describes "a world-renowned clothing optional beach section that is family oriented and staffed by well-trained volunteers who provide information about beach etiquette".

   Where	The northern one-third of Haulover Beach, between lifeguard towers 12 and 16; the 1.4-mile park lies between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach, a few miles north of Miami Beach.
   Access	Parking in the North Lot; car parking 7 dollars Monday to Thursday (plus a 1 dollar surcharge for the North Lot) and 10 dollars at weekends and holidays; lots open from sunrise until one hour before sunset and can close when full on summer Sundays between 11 am and 3 pm.
   Facilities	Beach chair and umbrella rentals, a food and drink concession and showers on the beach; restrooms nearby; lifeguarded swimming areas year-round in the park.
   Season and hours	Year-round; lifeguards year-round in the park.
   Rules on the page	Beach ambassadors in green safari hats explain the do's and don'ts on the sand; no flotation devices in the water at any bathing area (Miami-Dade Code chapter 26, rule 16).

2. Blind Creek Beach

   Fort Pierce, St. Lucie County · Designated by an authority

   Legal status: The county page: the Board of County Commissioners "officially designated Blind Creek Beach as a clothing-optional beach, the only sanctioned site of its kind on the Treasure Coast, while welcoming both clothed and unclothed visitors"; the designation dates from 2020.

   Where	5460 South Ocean Drive, Hutchinson Island; 108 acres with a mile and a half of undeveloped, dune-backed shoreline.
   Access	Free admission and parking; the county notes the main lot may close during paving and restroom works, with the Little Mud Creek lot one mile north as the alternative.
   Facilities	Picnic facilities, information kiosks and a lagoon-view tower; a paved lot and an ADA restroom were under construction at the south entrance when read. No lifeguards.
   Season and hours	Open daily, sunrise to sunset.
   Rules on the page	No pets, alcohol, glass or fires. Stay within the posted nude-optional boundaries; cover up before leaving them or entering the parking areas; no photography without consent.

What is not on this page

Beaches that appear on commercial lists for Florida but have no official page stating a clothing rule. Adding one would mean inventing a status, and a wrong "legal" here is a harm, not a typo. If you know an official page for a beach that belongs here, the editorial policy says how to send it.
