WikiLocation is an independently owned directory of location guides. It has two parts, and they are held to different standards, which this page spells out.

The archive

461 guides published on this domain between June 2023 and December 2025, when it ran on WordPress. In September 2026 the site was rebuilt as a static directory and the archive was salvaged whole: every guide kept at its original address, with its original date, as written. They are arranged by country and by topic. They were written for a general travel audience by the site's previous editors and are presented as archive material: dated, unedited, and not re-verified. Where a guide contradicts an official source, the official source wins, and the editorial policy says how to report it.

The beach guides

32 entries in 14 regions, written in 2026 to a stricter rule: every fact on those pages comes from an official page, named on the entry with the date it was read. 27 publishers are cited, all of them park services, county or city governments, national tourism agencies, national naturist federations, or the statute itself. A beach with no official page is not listed, whatever a commercial guide says about it. The section exists because the archive's single most-read guide was about a beach in Hawaii and answered the question badly; the new pages answer it with the statute and the park's hours.

What the site is not

It is not a booking site, a review site or an adult site. The beach guides are travel information within the lines set out on each page: location, law, access, facilities, etiquette. There are no photographs of people, no user reviews, no ratings and no adult advertising. It earns through labelled sponsored placements, described on the partner page, and never on the legal-status lines or source ledgers.

Who writes it

Pages carry the byline "WikiLocation editorial", which links to the policy rather than to a persona. There are no invented authors on this site; the 2023 to 2025 archive had one, on the page that now hosts the account of the original API, and it was removed in the rebuild.

The domain's history

WikiLocation was a geolocation API built in 2010 by Ben Dodson and retired in August 2014; developers still link to its documentation, which is why that page stays at its old address and explains what replaced it. The current owners have no connection to the original project.
